Testimony about speaking in tongues.
This testimony is mind blowing to me. I had been speaking in tongues for some time, but thought to myself, God… “m I really speaking in tongues? How do I know I am not just deceiving myself and speaking gibberish? If I cannot translate, how do I know if what I am saying is really from the Holy Ghost? Please show me.”
Time went on and I so did I. Then one day I was at my Dr’s. Office when something AMAZING happened. He was a therapist whom I had known for years. We were Dr., patient, but also were members of a group that we both attended. He seemed more a friend, but we kept it professional. But I digress…
So it was about to be Hanukah and he was Jewish, although probably not as practicing as perhaps God would have liked. In my ignorance I asked him, “Are you going to celebrate Hanukah with all your…” and I began to mock speak Hebrew which sounded like when I speak in tongues. Made no sense to me, but sounded Hebrew…ish. Or what I thought Hebrew sounded like. Then he suddenly sat back in amazement and said… “You just spoke in Hebrew!” And I replied, “Really?! What did I say?” and he replied… “You asked me if I was going to celebrate Hanukah, and in Hebrew you told me to remember to keep it Holy.”
I was so blown away! God answered my prayer to prove that speaking in tongues was real. I mean, not only did I speak in a language I did not know or understand, but what I said was in keeping with the conversation. I mean, I could have said something that made no sense if I actually spoke Hebrew at all, like, socks dog brick; but not only did I actually speak Hebrew, but it was in keeping with the conversation and there was a message in there for him as much as for myself. For him, it was to keep Hanukah Holy. And as for me, well, never again have I doubted that when I speak in tongues, even if no one is there to translate, it is certainly edifying my soul. Amen and Amen!
1 Corinthians 12:10 Context
7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
