It’s not a cake walk

One thing I have learned is that being favored by God is not the cake walk it seems. There is that whole… to whom much is given, much is required… thing.
Plus you must wear your “Armor of God” at all times, because the devil will have you marked. Any chance he gets to get under that armor and destroy you, he will. So if you think that because God will protect you, you won’t have to fight…

No hun, let me tell you, the more God favors you, the more you will have to fight.

The devil won’t kick a dead horse. So the closer you come to the salvation of Christ, the closer you get to God, the more you will find that life keeps coming at you fast and hard. It is the devil trying to distract you, weaken you, make you give up on your faith and question God. If you hear yourself saying, “God, I have done everything required of me, why must I continue to suffer?” It’s not God making you suffer… It’s the devil. And sometimes God allows it, I believe, to make us stronger. To make us better warriors. And to His glory.

Mine life has been so very far from a cake walk in spite of God’s favor… or perhaps because of it, that I can honestly say that I have nearly died multiple times in my life. That is the threat I have been found to be, where God has not only kept me alive, but kept my mental faculties intact… when I should not be here at all, had He not kept me.

You have three choices when you come under attack, and if you follow faithfully, you WILL come under attack… no question about it. But when you do come under attack, you have three options… freak out and try to take control of things yourself and make matters worse by losing your focus on God, or you can go back to where you were comfortable but spiritually stagnant and no longer a threat, or you can take hold of God and trust that He will lead you, and just rest in that promise where you will find that no matter how strong the storms around you, your seas will remain calm.

I have tried all three options many times in my life, depending on where I was spiritually, and I can promise you, that waiting on Him and resting on His promises is the easiest route every single time, even if initially it seems like the hardest. After a while, even when bad things happen, you realize, it’s not that bad… especially if you consider…

…If God is allowing it, it will be for my benefit, and or to His glory.

To that, all I can say is Amen… and Amen.
