There was the time in summer/fall 2020 when I was trying to put something into my small fridge freezer and things just kept falling out because I was forcing things in when there was barely any space left. I would shove what fell out, back in and something else would fall out, and this went on enough times where in desperation I found myself yelling, God!! I need a bigger freezer!! It was a statement, not a prayer per se, not a request, just words in desperation stating a fact. I needed a bigger freezer. The small boxed space at the top part of the fridge is called a freezer, but mine could barely fit an ice cube tray and a pack of chicken. That day I struggled with catching things as they fell out. And as I caught the last thing that fell, I said… “Lord, I need a bigger freezer!!”
Three days later I was expecting a package, something small… and when it showed in my notification as delivered, that package was on my step, but there was also another, much bigger box on my door step. I thought to myself, what? What is this? I called the delivery people. But I couldn’t get through to them. So I called the merchant which was a big box store and told them that something was delivered to my house that wasn’t mine. Wrong street, right number. They tried to reach the delivery company to no avail either, and the guy started to ask me to hold it for up to a couple of weeks and someone would come for it, as Covid was in it’s peak and people were shopping online like crazy, keeping the delivery companies very busy. I was like, “No way am I holding any body’s property for 2 weeks. Nope. Not happening.” At which point the guy just told me to go ahead and keep it, throw it away, donate it, etc. That he would write it down as a loss and send the original recipient another one. At which point I said… wait, what?! And he repeated himself. He told me the calls are recorded, gave me the call reference number and his name and said I could do what I wanted with the box and its contents.
And being me, that trust’s no one; I stored the box for about a month in my garage. After a month and no one came for it, I opened it to find it was a 7cu ft freezer. So had I been a little more trusting, a bigger freezer would have been in my possession 3 days after I said, “Lord, I need a bigger freezer!!” Praise God!
